Judit Polgar’s Global Chess Festival 👑

Every year, the Judit Polgar’s Global Chess Festival is held in Budapest. This year, it will run on September 17 & 18 at the Hungarian National Gallery. The event is a smorgasbord of sports, science, art, and education. There will be chess tournaments, workshops, guided tours, and of course, notable figures.

FIDE eyes the Big Apple 🍎

FIDE has recognized NYC as a platform to catapult chess’s visibility. It tested the waters with the World Corporate Championship in Wall Street, which was a phenomenal success. Companies such as Google, Deutsch Bank, and Goldman Sachs battled it out.

Now the World Rapid and Blitz Championships will be in the ‘city that never sleeps’ for the first time. The event will be in December, and it will be 5 days of intense matches.

"It has long been a dream of FIDE to have such a chess spectacle in New York. Not only will this championship be an absolutely top-notch sporting event, but also a great festival of mind, art, brilliance, and a celebration of the beauty of chess. We invite everyone interested in chess—no matter their level—to join us as we start the journey to make this event one of the most memorable chess events ever to take place in New York," said Emil Sutovsky, CEO of FIDE.

World Amateur Championship 🏆

The tournament will take place in Rhodes, Greece from October 26 to November 5. Categories include U2300, U2000, and U1700. Click here to register. Deadline is on September 9.

WR Chess Masters Cup in Dubai 🏆

The event will run from October 31st to November 3rd. Players include Anand, Nepomniachtchi, Vidit, and Praggnanandhaa. Follow WR Chess Masters on X.

Maia Chess Open in Portugal ♛

The Maia Chess Open will run in late August, starting on the 8/23. Apart from the main tournament, there will be blitz matches, chess party, simul and a master class. Visit their site for more information.
